Vent Host Changeover |
oday I moved our Vent Server over to a new host. The address is the same but the port changed so make sure to update your clients. The new port is 8671.
Why change? For many reasons but the biggest two were cheaper plan and better website. I found our old host to have a sluggish web administration interface that really needed an overhaul. There were broken links and generally things didn't work as well as they should have. |

New Vent Server Address |
e are in the process of changing the Vent server address to something a little more appropriate. Please check the Message of the Day (MOTD) for the new address. The old address will continue to work for a short time to give people time to adjust. |

Ventrilo Server Upgrade |
his Wednesday, November 14, our Ventrilo Server will be upgraded to v3.0. This should be accomplished in the early morning hours and will, of course, mean that the server will be down for a short period of time. Much more importantly, however, is the fact that Ventrilo v3.0 is NOT compatible with previous client versions. You will need to upgrade your clients in order to continue using the server. The new Client will be released at the same time as the Server software (tomorrow morning) so you won't, unfortunately, be able to install it in advance.
When the new Client is available, you'll be able to download it here: http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php
Because I anticipate that site getting alot of traffic, I will likely put a copy on my webserver. I'll post a link when I do.
Update: Everything went much smoother than anticipated and re-hosting the Vent client wasn't necessary. |
